Logo
The Ngati Apa logo was developed by a Ngati Apa iwi member Shane Bennett in consultation with Te Runanga o Ngati Apa. It is part of a branding exercise to assist to raise the profile of Ngati Apa, particularly amongst our own Iwi members.
The logo communicates several messages. The central message is kotahitanga amongst the whanau and the hapu that make up Ngati Apa. It symbolises the unity between Nga Wairiki, Rangitikei and Oroua, the water systems along which our Ngati Apa ancestors dwelt. In joining together these water systems we are joining together the autonomous hapu collectives that make up Ngati Apa.
These hapu collectives are represented by the five smaller koru. Whilst they are moving in the same direction, they are autonomous in their own right. The five koru are also symbolic of the five rivers Mangawhero, Whangaehu, Turakina, Rangitikei and Oroua. The two larger koru at the centre are symbolic of Te Kauae Runga and Te Kauae Raro. They also emphasise the balance between Te Ira Atua and Te Ira Tangata.
