Congratulations to all staff of the Runanga, Nga Ariki, and indeed all our hapu for the part(s) played in the AIP Signing hui held at Tini Waitara on 12 July. Notwithstanding the cool southeasterly, the day was a huge success and all went off well without a hitch. As we move into the Deed of Settlement Phase, the engagement of all our hapu in the process remains crucial to the management of tasks that we face moving forward.
Our hapu have played a major part in driving this process thus far and this continues to be an important role as we progress. So when the hapu have their hui we will still be looking to be part of that process in order to ascertain the necessary feedback and direction from each respective hapu.
A Rangitane representative made a visit to the Runanga on 16 July to discuss the AIP. The meeting was amicable and positive. It was identified that further discussions need to take place and from our point of view we are pleased to have some engagement after a barren period of contact with their representatives.
Contact with Whanganui Iwi continues as some of the detail regarding our AIP has been the focus of attention. Whilst this contact is informal, they are building the picture of the Whanganui Iwi view point of our AIP. However, much of their attention remains on preparation for their Waitangi Tribunal Hearings which start on August 6th. And we wish them well for this.
Our Final milestone report for the current contract is in draft form and will be delivered to CFRT by next week. We are in the midst of planning for the Deed of Settlement phase and are drafting the proposal as we speak. This is looking like a twelve month project in order to complete all the necessary work streams. We have met with CFRT and are aiming to have a proposal into them by Friday August 3.
Once again this is to focus upon the AIP and will be coming out in August.
