Our historical account has been submitted to an "Eminent Historian", who has already provided a progress report.  On the whole he has found the document satisfactory but in his view there is still some minor work that needs to be done. No doubt we will deal with his final report in due course and discuss matters raised with OTS to arrive at an agreed historical account.

We continue to write to overlapping claimants.  And have offered to meet with them to try to come to understandings about our respective interests.  We expect at least one of them to agree to meet with us in the very near future, and for others to engage after we have signed an Agreement in Principle with the Crown.

Since our last meeting the first offers from the Crown on Commercial and Cultural Redress have been delivered.  We are not able to publish details of these offers as they are still confidential to us.  However these matter are being discussed at all of the Hapu hui and our Hui-a-Iwi.  We are already in the process of responding with a counter offer which we will hope to have some feed back in the next report.

The next hapu hui is at Kauangaroa on May 20th at 10am with a hui a iwi scheduled for 1pm on 27 May at Whangaehu Marae.  By the 27th of May we should have a clear picture as to what our potential Agreement in Principle will look like.  Consequently, it is very important to ensure as many of our whanau get to this hui along with your own respective hapu hui.

Our next edition of Te Tapikitanga will have been distributed by the time of the meeting.  It is envisaged that our next edition will focus in upon the AIP in order to heighten awareness of the importance that all iwi consider this matter seriously.
