Overlapping claims

Discussions continue with Overlapping claimants with good progress being made with Ngati Hauiti regarding the location of three sites that are noted in our AIP as they are very close to the agreed boundaries as per the Pourewa Accord.  We are currently accessing some more detailed mapping to get the location of sites accurate.

A meeting with Rangitane has been arranged.    We are looking forward to speaking directly their negotiators and presenting our korero to them.

Unfortunately the scheduled meeting with Whanganui had to be postponed due to a Tangi.  We are awaiting confirmation of a rescheduled this meeting.

Ngati Raukawa have also agreed to meet with us, but are yet to confirm a date to meet.

Protocols

We hope to finalise all of the protocols mentioned in the AIP within the next month.

Forestry Valuation

All is going well for the valuation process and we are tracking well toward exchanging valuations with the Crown at the end of December.  The Negotiators will meet with our valuers’ before the end of the month, but initial feedback so far sounds promising.

Statutory Acknowledgements and Deeds of Recognitions

Drafts have been submitted to OTS for Pukepuke and Whitiau.  We will submit further Statements of Association for Omarupapako and Ruakiwi at the next negotiations hui with drafts near completion for the Oroua River and Taukoro Conservation area.

Place Name Change

As reported already the Parae Karetu submission has been completed and forwarded to the Geographic Board for consideration.  We have now turned our attention to the name change of Rounds Bush to Omarupapako and Whitiau scenic reserve to Motu Karaka scenic reserve.  We will present our evidence to OTS at the next negotiations hui.
