Te Kōtuku Hauora Services
Te Kōtuku Hauora o Rangitīkei (Te Kōtuku) is an operating unit of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Apa that has been established to provide free social and whānau ora community health promotion and support services in the southern Rangitīkei District. The service currently focuses on the centres of Ratana, Marton and Rata. The Ngāti Hauiti iwi and Ratana community are recognised as key stakeholders in this operating unit. This operating unit currently has the following contracts:
- Integrated Contract (Health and Social Services): (Lower Rangitīkei District)
- Tamariki Ora (Rangitīkei including Taihape)
- Kaupapa Māori Mental Health (Lower Rangitīkei District)
- Māori Health Outcomes (funding for Māori Health Outcomes Advisory Group)
Te Kōtuku Hauora Staff are trained professionals who work with a registered client base to promote healthier lifestyles and to support people in need.
In addition to the traditional contracts that Te Kōtuku Hauora has held for many years, there is a Kaitoko Whānau contract with Te Puni Kōkiri. This contract differs in that it allows a dedicated worker to operate in Whanganui, specifically targeting Ngāti Apa and Ngā Wairiki whānau that need help and support.
